Codemate and SJ Esports – the support organization behind SJ Gaming professional esports team – are developing a new kind of esports environment.

The idea is to develop a modern version of the traditional sports club for esports. SJG’s and Codemate’s goal is to develop the esports scene together to be more responsible, more communal and more educational.

“The new digital esports environment will provide a growth path for upcoming e-athletes, complete with a healthy lifestyle, a clear direction and the support of their family and friends.”

The development of the new service has started with a large scale user research, which was used to verify that the service meets the needs and hopes of the target group. Based on the user research and preliminary end-user testing, while also keeping the business goals in mind, the development of the features and functionality of the service has been prioritized.

Jari Karlsson, CEO of SJ Esports Oy explains:
“We are developing a new kind of environment for young esports players. The target group is diginatives, whose interest towards the service will end immediately if it doesn’t work like a dream. That’s why professional service design and user interface design are both extremely critical to the success of this service.”

In autumn 2019, SJ Gaming’s support organization SJ Esports Oy and Creative Tech Agency Codemate Oy have signed a long-term cooperation agreement. With this agreement, Codemate becomes the digital partner for SJ Esports, thus providing all the digital solutions and service design essentials for their business.
