We built this platform to keep AI agents under control. Its new name finally says so.
When we launched Rebel AI Studio, “rebel” captured the energy of building something new with generative UI. But two things pulled the other way. As the product matured, the name started to fight what it actually does — and “Rebel” was always a crowded name: it appears across countless products and companies, and even inside our own Flutter team, Rebel App Studio, which caused occasional confusion. It was time to rename the platform.
From rebel to shepherd
Paimen AI is built for control. Components stay on an allow-list. Agents act inside your rules and can’t step outside them. Every decision is versioned and leaves an audit trail. That’s the opposite of a rebel: a shepherd keeps the agent flock together and makes sure none of them wander off on their own.
“Paimen” (pronounced “PIE-men”) is Finnish for “shepherd”: the one who keeps the flock together, watches over it, and makes sure nothing strays. It’s the right image for a platform whose job is to let AI act freely — but never outside the lines you draw.
And the name hides a small surprise: the letters ai sit right in the middle of p-ai-men. The AI was there all along 😉
Why Agentic UX, not Agentic UI?
We’re also sharpening how we describe it. Paimen AI is an Agentic UX platform. The mechanism is still generative UI: agents compose the right view from your own components. What matters is the outcome: a user experience (UX) that adapts to what each user is trying to do — and along the way, shows us what users actually want to accomplish.
What’s changing — and what isn’t
The platform, the team, the roadmap, and your existing integrations are unchanged. Only the name — and how we talk about it — changes. Links to the old rebel-ai-studio pages now redirect to their Paimen AI equivalents, so nothing you’ve shared or bookmarked breaks.
